Pilates History
Around 1914,
Joseph Pilates was a performer and a boxer living in England and, at
the outbreak of WWI, was placed under forced internment in Lancaster,
England. There he taught fellow camp members the concepts and exercises
developed over 20 years. It was at this time that he began devising the
system of original exercises known today as "matwork", or exercises
done on the floor.
A few years later, he was transferred to another camp, where he began
devising equipment to rehabilitate his "patients," taking springs from
the beds to create spring resistance.
Because of the remarkable nature of the equipment to both challenge and
support the body as it learns to move more efficiently.

Instructor Profiles
Lauren Tomasulo is the owner of Fitness Solutions. Lauren is New York Guild certified and also certified through Power Pilates, Inc. Lauren became interested in Pilates through her dance studies in New York. Many of her peers were raving about the benefits of Pilates. From the time she tried it she was hooked. The results have been wonderful. Lauren enjoys sharing the knowledge that she has gained through her studies in Pilates with her clients. She loves seeing the progress others can make in Pilates.
Lauren has extensive knowledge of ballet, modern and musical theatre. She holds a BFA in dance through Adelphi University, a MA in Educational Theatre through NYU and an MS in Elementary Education through Hunter College.

Garry Rogers has been certified to teach Pilates since 1999 from the Pilates Studio of New York. Garry began his study of Pilates after a serious injury and two abdominal surgeries. As a result he created a new body after losing over 40 pounds.
Pilates also had a dramatic impact on his personal life and gave him new direction. He quit his job as a government worker and now helps change lives through the instruction of Pilates. He is also a licensed massage therapist and brings his knowledge of human anatomy in his work with Pilates students. |

Ton Voogt has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and is a certified Pilates Instructor, Pilates Teacher Trainer, Personal Trainer, ACE Group Fitness Instructor, gravitypilates trainer and gravitygroup strength trainer. He is a former member of the Dutch National Gymnastics team, and former performer with International stage, film, and television credits.
Ton and Michael Fritzke cofounded ZENIRGY, LLC., developed and created - the revolutionary TRIADBALLTM, Pilates TRIADBALLTM Manual, numerous DVDs and have set up several independently owned and operated Pilates certification programs in six countries.

Michael Fritzke is a certified Pilates Instructor, Pilates Teacher Trainer, Personal Trainer, gravitypilates(R) trainer and gravitygroup:strength trainer and Reiki Practitioner. He is a former performer, with Broadway National and International credits as a performer, dance-captain, stage manager, and resident director.
Michael and Ton Voogt are internationally recognized Pilates Master Teachers, presenters, educators, consultants, and innovators. They worked with Romana Kryzanowska, one of Joseph Pilates proteges, for over ten years in New York City, where they were Teacher Trainers for her original international Pilates certification program, and were the Supervising Instructors for the Pilates Studio in New York City.

Michelle "Mickey" Cantor graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in Broadcasting. She is certified in Pilates through the PhysicalMind Institute. She has also received her certification in Massage Therapy through the Florida College of Natural Health.
Mickey is certified as a Personal Trainer through the Aerobics & Fitness Association of America and has also completed yoga certification through Innervision Yoga in Chandler.
